A section bending roll, also known as a profile bending machine or a section bending machine, is a specialized piece of equipment used to bend various types of metal sections into curved shapes. It is commonly used in metalworking and fabrication industries to produce curved or rounded components for structures such as arches, frames, handrails, and pipes.

The section bending roll consists of three main components:

    1. Base: This forms the foundation of the machine and provides stability during the bending process. It is typically made of heavy-duty steel and is designed to withstand the forces exerted during bending.
    2. Rollers: The rollers are the key elements of the section bending roll. They are mounted on adjustable arms or shafts and are responsible for applying pressure to the metal section to bend it. The number and arrangement of rollers may vary depending on the specific machine design and the desired bending capabilities.
    3. Drive system: The drive system powers the rotation of the rollers. It usually consists of an electric motor and a gearbox to provide the necessary torque for bending. Some section bending rolls also feature hydraulic or hydraulic-electric hybrid drive systems for enhanced bending performance.

The bending process with a section bending roll typically involves the following steps:

    1. Setup: The machine is adjusted and prepared according to the desired bending radius and angle. This includes adjusting the position and alignment of the rollers.
    2. Loading: The metal section to be bent is placed between the rollers, aligning it with the bending axis
    3. Bending: The drive system is activated, causing the rollers to rotate and apply pressure to the metal section. As the section passes through the rollers, it gradually bends into the desired curved shape.
    4. Unloading: Once the bending is complete, the curved section is carefully removed from the machine.

Section bending rolls are available in different sizes and capacities to accommodate a wide range of metal section profiles, including flat bars, angles, channels, beams, tubes, and pipes. Some machines may have additional features, such as digital controls for precise bending and programmable automation for complex bending sequences.

It's important to note that the specific capabilities and operation of section bending rolls may vary between manufacturers and models. Therefore, it is advisable to refer to the manufacturer's instructions and guidelines for the particular machine being used.
